Why is my cached memory equal to my available memory, or quite the same? I have 8gb RAM, excel is super slow.?

My computer has 8GB Ram, with Windows 7 and a 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor. Can somebody help me with this? It seems like Excel is processing 1.6GB Ram and it makes no sense, as I'm working with 100mb files.

the problem might be some virus. U can find then in task manager.-> under processes tab and if U had not properly installed MS office it might give problems like this. try reinstalling MS office if possible. U can also try other software similar to excel . like download.openoffice.org etc.
