How are they care wise... what is the smallest type... and are any monitors omnivores?
most monitors can grow to be over 5 feet and can get pretty aggressive. I like the Savannah monitors. If cared for properly and handled daily they can be very good pets. I would do ALOT of research before getting into such a big responsibly.
learn all you can on the subject and find the one that is rightfully suited to your life and they can be a lot of work so i hope you can find one that you will love
"How are they care wise?".......................................... Some are easy most are hard. "what is the smallest type?"................................ Short tailed monitor (V. brevicauda) "any monitors omnivores?"............................. The highly endangered Greys monitor (V.olivaceus)
Monitors are generally large, carnivorous lizards that tend to be on the aggressive/skittish section of the attitude list but the Nile and Water Monitors can be dangerous considering that they can reach lengths of 7 ft. The smallest would be Short-tailed Monitor or Pygmy Goanna of Australia, they can reach a maximum length of 25 cm. The Emerald Tree Monitor and Gray's Monitor have been observed to eat fruit as well as small mammals and insects.
They are terrible pets lol. some of them have been proven to have some venom in their spit not to mention the really bad bites they can give. They also need large enclosures.
